Taking a close look at Macomb County Speciality Courts
The Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan will present an in-person program on “Macomb County Specialty Courts” Friday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to noon at Macomb Community College, University Center Building, in Clinton Twp.
Presenters will include:
• Christina Wohlfield, court services director at Macomb County Circuit Court, who will discuss “Brand New Attorney at the Circuit Court Arraignment. What Are These Courts and How Do I Get My Client Enrolled?”
• Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Julie Gatti
• Joan Morgan who will discuss “Securing Experts and Independent Evaluations”

Consensus focus of Levin Center webinar
The Levin Center at Wayne Law will offer a webinar on “Pursuing Factual Consensus: What Does ‘Truth’ Mean in the Public Square?” Thursday, May 19, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. via Zoom.
The program will exammine how facts become established in the public mind and how truthfulness might be restored to public discourse.
Levin Center Director Jim Townsend will moderate the panel that will feature Jonathan Rauch, senior fellow, Brookings Institution; Marc Hetherington, professor of Political Science, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and Yanna Krupnikov, professor of Political Science, Stony Brook University

WLAM to gather at Detroit Zoo for annual meeting
For its first in-person annual meeting since 2019, the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan will host an open-air cocktail party with live entertainment, hors d’oeuvres and an award presentations on Friday, June 3 at the Detroit Zoo’s Events Pavilion in Royal Oak
The meeting, scheduled from 6:30-10:30 p.m., will include a keynote address by Michigan Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth M. Welch, recognition of WLAM Scholarship recipients, the swearing-in of the new board as well as awards that highlight prominent members of the organization.
Cost to attend the event is $75 for WLAM members, $100 for non-members, and $50 for law students.
