The winning designs for the cover of the Third Circuit Court Annual Report were by (l-r) Adrianna Robinson (1st place), Alyssa Bell (2nd place) and Ivonte’ Dior Williams (3rd place).
The Third Circuit Court held a brief ceremony June 8 to acknowledge graduating high school seniors Adrianna Robinson, Alyssa Bell, and Ivonte’ Dior Williams as the winners of its 2021 Annual Report Cover Design Contest.
“The Third Circuit Court Annual Report Cover Design Contest winners all demonstrated imagination and skill worthy of professionals,” said Chief Judge Timothy M. Kenny. “On behalf of our Court, I thank them for their extraordinary designs and hard work.”
At the ceremony, each artist had the opportunity to share with attendees their background, their submissions, and their plans for the future.
The Court promotes this opportunity to high school students who live in Wayne County. The contest has been in existence since 2016. William D. Ford Tech Center has been involved since 2017 and has been the school of the 1st Place winners since 2017.
Chief Judge Pro Tem Patricia Perez Fresard, Executive Court Administrator Zenell B. Brown, and Director of Criminal Services Tamela Aikens represented the Court at the virtual ceremony.
Robinson was the 1st place winner. Robinson, 17, is currently in her second year at William D. Ford Tech Center. She received a full scholarship to attend Grand Valley State University this fall to study supply chain management. Future plans include travel and moving out of Michigan to settle down in a different state. She enjoys digital art, which is more of a hobby than a career choice for her. Robinson received a laptop and a trophy for her winning entry. Her submission will be the cover design for the Third Circuit Court’s 2021 Annual Report.
The 2nd place winner was Alyssa Bell. Bell is a second-year Digital Art student at William D. Ford Technical Center in Westland where she recently earned her State Approved Design certificate. She says her goal is to create beautiful designs that she’s proud of and that she always wants to improve her skills In her spare time she enjoys watching documentaries. After high school she is taking a year off to figure out her future. She hopes that one day she will be able to travel wherever she wants in the world. Bell received a trophy and gift certificate for her work.
The 3rd place winner is Ivonte’ Dior Williams. Ivonte’ is currently a senior in high school. In his free time he likes to play video games, watch TV, play basketball, draw, and make milkshakes. He has two brothers and a sister. He currently is employed at Firehouse Subs and has a dream of going to college to study psychology. Williams received a trophy and gift certificate for his work.
Williams and Bell’s artwork will appear on various Court publications.
Fresard, who is an artist herself, congratulated the annual report cover winners, who all hail from William D. Ford Tech Center. Fresard recognized their teacher Mark Benglian, who has ensured this opportunity is made available to all of his students. Benglian acknowledged the students for their dedication and perseverance as the classes were taught remotely and appreciated the court providing the opportunity for students to showcase their talents.
