Law firm applauds new U.S. Centre for Advanced Manufacturing

Butzel is celebrating the news that Industry 4.0 knowledge center Automation Alley, in partnership with the World Economic Forum, has launched the U.S. Centre for Advanced Manufacturing.  Butzel is a founding member of Automation Alley.

Speaking on behalf of Butzel and our longstanding relationship with Automation Alley, attorney Robert H. Schwartz said: “Michigan is a manufacturing industry leader and increasingly a center for manufacturing innovation at least, in substantial part, arising out of the work of Automation Alley. The addition of the collaboration with the World Economic Forum through The U.S. Centre for Advanced Manufacturing in our state is a further enhancement of and a recognition of the leadership Automation Alley provides.

“The World Economic Forum and Automation Alley have partnered with Oakland County and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to bring the Centre into fruition,” Schwartz added.  “The Centre will further enhance the reputation of the region and the United States as key players in the global network that manufacturing has become. Butzel applauds the leadership of Automation Alley, Oakland County and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation in making the Centre a reality.”

BWLAM to celebrate 30th anniversary on July 28

The Black Women Lawyers Association of Michigan (BWLAM) will host its 30th Anniversary Fundraiser “Blazing the Trail Through Trials” on Tuesday, June 28, from 6 to 9 p.m.  The event will honor judicial trailblazers Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Deborah Thomas, retired Judge Cynthia D, Stephens, and retired Judge Denise Langford Morris.

BWLAM was founded on July 28, 1992 by a group of African-American women from the Metro Detroit area, who wanted to form a bar organization that focused on women issues; increased black female representation in the judiciary and in public offices; and to take a proactive stance on political issues. BWLAM focuses on the professional advancement of women lawyers and the promotion of women’s rights. BWLAM has blazed a trail for 30 years through its founders and members.

Tickets for the 30th anniversary celebration are $60 for BWLAM members, $75 for non-members, and $30 for students. To purchase tickets, visit www. eventbrite.com and search “BWLAM.”  Masks are not required but recommended for the event.
