Oakland Bar golf outing slated for Wabeek Aug. 1

The Oakland County Bar Association will present its annual Bar for the Course Golf Tournament on Monday, Aug. 1 at Wabeek Country Club beginning at noon.

“Join friends, colleagues, and acquaintances for a fun day out on the beautiful greens at Wabeek Country Club,” said a spokesperson for the OCBA. “Register as a solo, with a friend, or with a full foursome to compete in our course challenges and tournament.”

The cost per player is $185 for OCBA members and $195 for non-members, while a foursome is $710 for OCBA members and $750 for non-members. The early-bird registration runs through July 9. After July 9, the cost increases to $200 for members and $210 for non-members, while the price for a foursome will be $765 for members and $805 for non-members.

Bar Night Out on tap at Jimmy John’s Field July 15

A taste of minor league baseball will be offered by the Oakland County Bar Association on Friday, July 15 when it hosts a “Bar Night Out at Jimmy John’s Field” in Utica from 6-9:30 p.m.

“Bring your family, colleagues, or friends and join us for a fun-filled evening at Jimmy John’s Field in Utica as the Birmingham/Bloomfield Beavers take on the Westside Wooly Mammoths,” said a spokesperson for the OCBA.

Tickets include a barbecue buffet, two drink tickets, group photo on the field, post-game player autographs, a meet-and-greet with mascots, fireworks, and running the bases for kids. Free parking is available, and children 3 and under will be admitted free.

‘The Future of Women and Work’ focus of next WLAMom book club

The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan will conduct its WLAMom Book Club online Tuesday, July 26, beginning at 7 p.m. 

For this meeting, the club will be discussing “Pay Up—The Future of Women and Work (and Why It's Different Than You Think)” by Reshma Saujani.  In this book, the founder of Girls Who Code and bestselling author of “Brave, Not Perfect” confronts the “big lie” of corporate feminism and presents a plan to address the burnout and inequity harming working women in the U.S. today.
