'Regulating Technology: A Legal and Compliance Update' offered online August 3

American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education (ALI-CLE) will present the webcast  “Regulating Technology: A Legal and Compliance Update” on Wednesday, Aug. 3, from 2 to 3 p.m.

Speakers will survey the current state of case law and regulatory actions involving privacy, security, and technology (including artificial intelligence and biometrics).  A data privacy expert and two lawyers whose practices are steeped in the legal issues surrounding emerging technologies will consider:

• Federal and state laws and regulations on privacy and security
• Applicable judicial decisions
• Consumer data privacy, personal information, employee monitoring, and other types of protected information
• Compliance considerations for individuals and businesses
• Possible implications for existing and emerging technologies

This webcast is the second in a three-part, non-consecutive series—Understanding Your Data: Technology and Privacy Issues for 21st Century Lawyers—designed to address the intersections of law, technology, and privacy in today’s legal practice, whether for advertising, communication, or in the course of representing a client in both litigation and regulatory proceedings.

The first program, which took place on May 11, discussed the benefits and risks of new forms of technology for law firms and other business settings. It is available to watch on demand at www.ali-cle.org.

The final program (in December 2022) will explore the ethical implications of using technology. Attendees do not need to watch all three parts of the series to benefit from any segment as a standalone program.

Questions submitted during the program will be answered live by the faculty. In addition, all registrants will receive a set of downloadable course materials.
Cost for the webcast is $199. To register, visit www.ali-cle.org.
