‘The Women of the Copper Country’ Set for July 25

Hackley Public Library and the Muskegon Museum of History & Science will host a discussion of ‘The Women of the Copper Country’ by Mary Doria Russell, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.,, Monday, July 25.

This fictionalized yet historical account shares the journey of a woman who daringly led a strike against a powerful mining company in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, during the early labor movement.

‘Music of John Williams’ coming in September

The West Michigan Symphony will present “The Music of John Williams,”7:30 p.m.,, Friday, Sept. 30, in the Frauenthal Theater.

Hear music from Star Wars, Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harry Potter, and more, conducted by Scott Speck.

Williams has composed the music and served as music director for more than 100 films. His 40-year artistic partnership with director Steven Spielberg has resulted in many of Hollywood’s most acclaimed and successful films.
