Enix-Ross is a senior adviser to the International Dispute Resolution Group of Debevoise & Plimpton in New York City. She has been a part of the ABA leadership for several years, serving as chair of the ABA’s policymaking House of Delegates and as chair of the ABA Center for Human Rights and the ABA Section Officers Conference. Enix-Ross is also a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and has served as vice president of the World Justice Project. She is the second Black female president in ABA history.
Enix-Ross was sworn in as ABA president by retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, who received the association’s highest honor, the ABA Medal, at a ceremony Aug. 6 at the Annual Meeting.
Palmer Gene Vance II is the new chair of the ABA House of Delegates. Vance is a lawyer with Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC in Lexington, Kentucky, a firm that specializes in business and commercial litigation. Vance has more than 30 years of experience as a lawyer. He has been a member of the ABA House of Delegates since 2001 and is former chair of the ABA Section of Litigation and the council of the ABA’s charitable arm, the Fund for Justice and Education.
Mary L. Smith is the new president-elect. She will become ABA president in August 2023 at the Annual Meeting in Denver. Smith is vice chair and partner at the VENG Group and senior fellow at Freedman Consulting LLC. She is a member of the Cherokee Nation and will be the ABA’s first Native American female president. Smith is former CEO of the U.S. Indian Health Service, a $6 billion national health care organization.
Frank H. “Fritz” Langrock is the new treasurer-elect. Langrock is a partner at Langrock Sperry & Wool LLP in Middlebury, Vermont, and will become ABA treasurer in August 2023. He has been a lawyer for more than 30 years, with a practice focused on litigation and mediation. Outside the ABA, Langrock is a member of the Vermont Bar Foundation, currently serving as co-chair of its Access to Justice campaign.
