League of Women Voters of Michigan hosting Supreme Court candidate forum

Michigan voters are invited to hear from candidates seeking a seat on the Michigan Supreme Court on Wednesday, September 21, during a virtual candidate forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Michigan and the Jewish Bar Association of Michigan.

“A fundamental mission of the League is to help ensure every person has the desire, the right, the knowledge and the confidence to participate in our democracy,” said Paula Bowman, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Michigan. “We’re proud to hold events like this to inform voters about the candidates who will be on their ballot in the upcoming election.”

The virtual forum will take place at 7 p.m. via Zoom. The event will also be livestreamed on the League of Women Voters of Michigan’s Facebook page and uploaded to YouTube following the event.

Attendees will hear from all Michigan Supreme Court candidates, including Richard Bernstein, Kyra Harris Bolden, Paul Hudson, Kerry Morgan and Brian Zahra.

Candidates will share opening statements and answer questions from the League with the purpose of informing voters and encouraging them to vote in the upcoming election. The Michigan Supreme Court is the state’s court of last resort, ruling on important decisions that impact all voters.

“We encourage Michigan voters to attend this event and hear from the candidates who want to represent them in Michigan’s highest court,” said Christina Schlitt, co-president of the Michigan League. “We’re excited to hold this important forum and help ensure voters are ready for the November election.”

Registration for the event is required and can be completed online at https://bit.ly/3UaopDk.

The League of Women Voters of Michigan is the state league for the U.S. League of Women Voters, which is a nonpartisan political organization that aims to encourage informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
