Michigan’s Office of Child Support Community Advisory Council is seeking parents and caregivers to join to help ensure child support policies are fair and work for all involved.
There is room for up to four additional members to join the current eight members.
This effort is part of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) efforts to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion. The Office of Child Support is part of MDHHS.
Michigan residents with a child support case are invited to attend an informational meeting to learn more about the advisory council and how to apply. Meetings will be held remotely. Anyone who is interested is asked to RSVP to receive a link to attend.
Virtual meeting options are:
Monday, October 17, 6-7:30 p.m.
Thursday, October 20, 7-8:30 p.m.
Tuesday, November 1, 10-11:30 a.m.
Wednesday, November 2, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
After attending the informational meeting, participants will have the option to apply for one of the open council positions. Meeting days and times will be determined based on the availability of the members.
The council reviews and provides input on child support projects and policy.
“During the first year of meetings, the Office of Child Support Community Advisory Council has provided insight and feedback that has been invaluable,” said Erin Frisch, director of Michigan’s Office of Child Support.
“Their recommendations have led to beneficial changes – an improved process for handling program complaints, for example.”
Anyone who would like to reserve a spot in one of these meetings can visit http://MichiganChildSupport.eventbrite.com or email MDHHS-OCS-Advisory-Council@Michigan.gov.
