Flagg, and the Board of Directors of LSC will host “Honoring Our Veterans: Uplifting Initiatives to Support Rural Veterans,” a special virtual celebration livestreamed on LSC’s Facebook page Thursday, November 17, beginning at 2 p.m.

This year, in collaboration with our Veterans Task Force and Rural Justice Task Force, LSC celebrates the work of legal aid practitioners and partners throughout the country who serve the unique needs and interests of veterans residing in rural communities. Panelists will discuss common barriers in many rural settings and the outsized impact these challenges have on the rural veteran population.

‘Mini Med School for Attorneys’ offered online

The National Business Institute will present the live video webinar “Mini Med School for Attorneys” on Wednesday, November 30, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Legal cases involving medical issues require a strong grasp of how the body functions, how injuries impede those functions, and what the prognoses and treatments look like. In this program, the doctor and seasoned attorney faculty will provide the unique blend of medical and legal insights attorneys need to evaluate, take on, or defend cases involving injuries. Attendees will:

• Build a basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and common injuries.

• Understand the different tests used to diagnose traumatic brain injury.

• Explore the ins and outs of spinal injuries - from causation to symptoms, prognosis, and treatment.

• Learn how doctors differentiate new injury from degeneration, exacerbation, or recurrence of an old injury.

• Gain a medical perspective on pain assessment, syndromes, and management.

• Determine the uses and limitations of x-rays, MRIs, and other imaging techniques.

• Discover valuable questions to ask during doctor depositions and cross-examination.

This program is designed for attorneys. Insurance professionals and paralegals may also benefit.

Cost for the webinar is $389 which includes the course book. To register, call 1-800-930-6182 or visit www.nbi-sems.com.
