A (Habeas) Chorus Line returns with public show ‘Don’t Mask, Don’t Tell’

After a lengthy pandemic-induced layoff, Detroit musical parody troupe A (Habeas) Chorus Line™ will once again take the stage this month with its hilarious brand of satire. “Don’t Mask, Don’t Tell,” will be presented on Saturday, November 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Royal Oak Middle School auditorium located at 709 N. Washington Ave. in Royal Oak. Advance tickets can be purchased online ($20 each) at www.habeaschorusline. com or visit the Eventbrite link at https:// www.eventbrite.com/e/dont-mask-dont-tell-tickets. Tickets also can be purchased at the door for $25 each (cash or check only). All seating is general admission.

Comprised primarily of Detroit-area attorneys, A (Habeas) Chorus Line is celebrating 30 years of entertaining audiences in Detroit, greater Michigan and elsewhere with its wickedly sharp parody. “We poke fun at politicians, celebrities, current events, the high and mighty, and even ourselves,” said cast member and group lyricist Justin Klimko, who also is president and CEO of Butzel Long. “We never run out of material; there’s always something to lampoon.

A (Habeas) Chorus Line was formed in 1992 for what cast members thought would be a one-time performance. Three decades later, the group continues to use existing show tunes and pop numbers as well as original compositions to skewer its targets. The humor has broad appeal and a bit of a bite, and you certainly don’t have to be a lawyer to “get it.”

The A (Habeas) Chorus Line cast includes:

• Sara F. Fischer, a former case manager in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Presently, she is a legal assistant at the firm of Goodman Kalahar in Detroit.

• Justin G. Klimko, a corporate transaction attorney with the Detroit law firm of Butzel Long, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, commercial and corporate finance and securities regulation, as well as the firm’s president and CEO.

• Michael C. Leibson, a former assistant U.S. attorney.

• Joseph M. LaBella, the vice president, director of contracts for Jack Morton Worldwide, the promotional and marketing Agency of Record for General Motors.

• Mark R. Lezotte, an attorney with the Detroit law firm Butzel Long, focusing on health care law and non-profit organizations.

• James D. Robb, contracts director at Jack Morton Worldwide the promotional and marketing Agency of Record for General Motors.

• Angela R.C. Williams, deputy general counsel with the Detroit Housing Commission.

• Judy Zorn, an attorney who now serves as executive director of the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra.
