Dykema member Rob Boonin will serve as a featured speaker at the American Arbitration Association’s “Labor Grievance Processing” webinar on Wednesday, December 7, from 2 to 5 p.m.
The effective presentation of a grievance in arbitration often depends upon the work done earlier in the grievance process.
Through lecture, facilitated discussions, interactive exercises and mock role-play, Boonin—along with Samuel E. McCargo, AAA Labor Arbitrator, Detroit, and Howard F. Gordon, SEIU Local 517M-union representative, Lansing—will provide participants with practical skills and information on how to constructively use the grievance process to resolve disputes and questions regarding contract interpretation.
The faculty will also explore how this problem-solving method can be used to:
• Assess the merits of a grievance.
• Conduct an investigation and communicate a position effectively at the grievance meeting.
• Implement or otherwise formalize the grievance procedure in your organization.
Management-side labor relations and employment law has been Boonin’s focus throughout his career. A chief negotiator who added employer litigation to his toolbox, he helps private- and public-sector clients avoid and resolve workplace disputes. Boonin advises clients across the United States, including closely held companies, publicly traded corporations, local units of government, K-12 school districts, charter schools, community colleges, and state universities.
Cost for the webinar is $50. To register, visit www.aaaeducation.org and click on “Live Events.”
