‘PFAS Litigation and Regulation’ examined in ABA webinar Dec. 20

The American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources will present a webinar on “PFAS Litigation and Regulation – Past, Present, and Future” Tuesday, December 20, beginning at 1 p.m.

Litigation and regulation trends concerning PFAS – also known as “forever chemicals” – are expanding in an unprecedented manner. This webinar will cover the history of manufacturing and use of PFAS chemicals (including a case study on historical use of AFFF at a combined DOD/ DOT airport), the PFAS litigation and regulatory landscapes, including the beginning of PFAS litigation during the last two decades, the present scope of PFAS litigation, and where we expect PFAS litigation to expand in the near future. Additionally, this webinar will cover emerging regulatory changes at the state and federal levels.

The webinar’s panel will provide a constructive overview and key insights regarding the general history of PFAS manufacturing and use in specific products, when and where PFAS litigation and regulation began, the present scope of PFAS litigation and regulation, and where we expect PFAS litigation and regulation to expand in the future. The panel will discuss the present scope of PFAS litigation, including actions brought by state attorneys general, aqueous film-forming foam multi-district litigation, and PFAS product liability and false advertising cases.

The panel will conclude with a discussion of the anticipated scope of PFAS litigation in the future, especially in light of the EPA’s and states’ increased focus and ongoing efforts to aggressively regulate PFAS.

Cost for the webinar is $100 for non-members, $50 for ABA members, and $25 for section members. To register, visit www.americanbar.org and click on “events.”
