Stephen K. Postema, the longest serving Ann Arbor City Attorney, has joined Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick, P.C., as of counsel. The law firm, based in Ann Arbor, has served the legal needs of local and statewide clients since 1937.
An Ann Arbor native, Postema has practiced law in Ann Arbor since 1986. A trusted legal advisor with significant experience in managing legal and litigation risk, he will specialize in mediation, municipal law, and litigation.
While City Attorney, Postema served on the board of directors of the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys, including two terms as president.
He also served on the Michigan Municipal League’s Legal Defense Fund, assisting with legal strategy on cases impacting municipalities across the state.
Postema has been a speaker on municipal, employment, and other legal topics to municipal attorneys and officials, both statewide and nationally, and has taught a law school seminar on state and local government law.
He has served as a case evaluator the commercial, negligence, and employment panels in Washtenaw County for over 30 years; and also has been a mediator for the past 25 years.
