Attorney examines ‘SECURE Act 2.0’ 

Clark Hill will present the webinar “SECURE Act 2.0 Has Arrived” on Tuesday, February 7, beginning at 1 p.m. via Zoom.

On Dec. 29, 2022, President Biden signed the SECURE 2.0 Act of 2022. SECURE 2.0 makes numerous changes to the rules governing 401(k) and other qualified retirement plans.

Use of narrative statements in arbitration explored

The Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the State Bar of Michigan will be present a webinar on Tuesday, February 21, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.

Arbitrator Jerome F. Rock will discuss “The Use of Narrative Statements in Arbitration.” Rock has experience in this emerging trend to replace direct testimony, and improve efficiency and cost effectiveness with written narrative witness statements in commercial arbitration.

The presentation will include the benefits of NWS to stakeholders and the arbitration process, laying the groundwork for NWS, a protocol implemeting NWS and case studies.

Black History Month with Zenell Brown offered online

As part of its Community Conversations virtual event series, Western Michigan University Cooley Law School will present “Black History Month with Zenell Brown” online Thursday, Feb. 23, from noon to 1 p.m.

Attorney Zenell Brown is an author and a champion of justice for all through her DEI efforts and initiatives. She melds her court leadership, crucial conversation, dispute resolution skills, and diversity skills and leads the administrative operations Wayne County Circuit Court.

Her book, “Coffee and Conversations: Inclusion and Belonging,” was published in 2020.

Brown is a member of the Black Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, National Association of Women Judges-Michigan Chapter,
State Bar of Michigan Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council, SBM ADR Section-Diversity and Inclusion Action Team, and Detroit Bar Association.
