Judging underway in county student video competition

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido says more than 30 entries were received as part of his “Knocking Violence Out of My School” video competition.

Lucido promoted the competition as an opportunity for students to talk about how they feel about school threats, violence, weapons and bullying.

“I would like to thank all the students who spent the time to make and submit videos to help stop school violence,” Lucido said. “These outstanding videos were both creative and innovative.

“Everyone who submitted videos should be proud of themselves and are heroes in my book for helping stop school threats, violence, weapons, and bullying.”

Members of Lucido’s juvenile unit are judging the videos, he said, and the winners will be announced on March 1.

First prize winner(s) will receive $1,000 while second-prize winners get $750 and third prize $500.

The top three student’s schools will also receive the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Hero Award.
