David Lubbers: The Mysterious Landscape

This exhibit of work by Grand Rapids artist/photographer David Lubbers, will run through May 14 at the Muskegon Museum of Art.

‘Chaplin’s Smile’ Event set March 24

The West Michigan Symphony will present ‘Chaplin’s Smile,’ 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 24, at the Frauenthal Theater.

This multi-media performance combines live music with clips from classic Charlie Chaplin films, photos and selections from his autobiography. The concert traces Chaplin’s relationship with 20th-century master composers and his own film scores. The performance includes Debussy: “Claire de Lune”; Chaplin: “City Lights Suite”; Stravinsky: “Tango”;  Brahms: “Hungarian Dance no. 5”; Chaplin: “The Kid” Fantasy and “Smile.” Scott Speck will serve as conductor, with Philippe Quint on violin.
