Annual Barristers’ Ball hosted April 29 in Detroit
The Wolverine Bar Association and the Wolverine Bar Foundation are excited to host the 61st Annual Barristers’ Ball on Saturday, April 29, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center Ballroom.
The Barristers’ Ball is the Wolverine Bar’s signature black-tie charity fundraising gala. It includes a strolling dinner buffet and musical entertainment, and is attended by more than 1,500 supporters each year. This year’s theme is “Paradise Valley,” which celebrates and restores, for one night, that fabled entertainment and business district of old Detroit.
Attendance and sponsorship of the Barristers’ Ball funds the Wolverine Bar’s programs and services, which include student externships, internships, scholarships, education courses, and mentoring; as well as, legal information, education, and representation for the underrepresented.
Individual tickets for the ball cost $150. For tickets or additional information about the ball, visit www.wolverinebar.org.
Webinar focuses on ‘Secondary Traumatic Stress’
The Michigan Judicial Institute and Friend of the Court Bureau will present a webinar on “Secondary Traumatic Stress” Thursday, April 27, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. via Zoom.
Being exposed to the trauma that child support families have faced, or are facing, may take an emotional toll on workers that compromises our personal and professional quality of life. Awareness of secondary trauma’s effects protects the health of the child support worker and ensures that Michigan’s families consistently receive the best possible care from those who are committed to helping them.
Speaking at the program will be Dr. Kelsey Sala-Hamrick, senior research scientist with the Center for Strategic Health Partnerships – Michigan Public Health Institute
