The Access to Justice Campaign has released its 2022 Annual Report to highlight the campaign’s fundraising efforts.
In 2022, the campaign raised more than $1.25 million from Michigan’s legal community and 100 percent of the funds were disbursed to 15 regional and statewide legal aid programs in Michigan.
The funds received from the campaign help to advance the operations of the programs that offer a broad range of legal services to low-income and vulnerable populations.
With more than 1.67 million low-income individuals who qualify for legal aid, the legal community’s investment is important.
Since centralizing the ATJ Campaign in 2018, legal community donations to the participating programs have increased by 36%.
The campaign seeks to continue increasing donor giving and attorney participation.
Based on national data about legal community giving, the ATJ Campaign’s short-term goal is to raise $3.1 million.
In addition to the campaign’s fundraising results and donors, the report highlights the need for legal aid, partnerships with volunteer attorneys and the services provided.
The report quantifies the impact through numbers, but, more importantly, through client stories —?real lives changed because of the help from legal aid.
“We celebrate the continued success of the centralized effort and thank committee members and volunteers for helping grow the Campaign. We are honored to administer this Campaign and raise money to support the tremendous work of legal aid programs throughout Michigan,” said Jennifer Bentley, Michigan State Bar Foundation executive director.
