ALM hosts ‘BP Expo Hoedown’


The Metropolitan Detroit Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators is gearing up for its Business Partner Expo. The “BP Expo Hoedown” will take place Thursday, September 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Lodge at The Henry Ford/Greenfield Village, 20900 Oakwood Blvd. in Dearborn.

Attendees will enjoy food, door prizes, Model T rides, and a chance to dress up in their country finest. Parking will be available at The Henry Ford security at Eagle Gate.

Attorney to discuss ‘Domestic Violence Awareness’ in webinar Oct. 5
 

The Oakland County Bar Association will present a webinar on “Domestic Violence Awareness: Recognizing When Your Client is a Survivor” Thursday, October 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. via Zoom.

More than one million people report a violent assault by a partner every year in the United States. One in three Michigan families are impacted by domestic violence according to HAVEN.

This seminar will provide insight into law enforcement's use of danger assessments to help you recognize when your client is a survivor. In addition, speaker Jennifer Smith, of Brimstone Law PLLC, will give helpful tips on determining when attorneys need an expert and who to call. The webinar will also feature a Q&A session.

Cost for the webinar is $12 for OCBA members pre-registration and $25 for non-members pre-registration. Oakland County MIDC court appointed attorneys can attend for free.

Creditors Bar hosting golf outing at Red Run Oct. 2
 

The Michigan Creditors Bar Association will host its 2023 MCBA Golf Outing featuring lunch, golf, cocktail hour, and dinner on Monday, October 2, at Red Run Golf Club, 2036 Rochester Road in Royal Oak.

The outing follows the schedule of:

• 10 a.m. - Registration and Driving Range Open

• 11 a.m. - BBQ Lunch

• Noon - Shotgun Start

• 5 p.m. - Social/ Cocktail Hour

• 5:30  p.m. - Dinner

Cost for the outing is $1,100 per foursome, $280 per individual, $45 for lunch only, and $85 for dinner only.
