Michigan attorneys can now renew their State Bar of Michigan law license for the 2023-2024 bar year.
The State Bar of Michigan uses an online system to make license renewals fast and convenient for Michigan attorneys. All attorneys in the state of Michigan are required to annually renew their license and complete mandatory regulation disclosures.
To renew a license, go to michbar.org/MemberArea.
The new license year begins on Oct.?1, 2023 and ends on September?30, 2024.
Attorneys should be aware that this year’s license renewal includes new requirements for private practice attorneys to ensure compliance with Rule 21: Mandatory Interim Administrator Planning, which requires private practice attorneys to make an interim administrator plan and name a person with knowledge of their practice.
Private practice attorneys should review these requirements at michbar.org/Rule21 prior to beginning their license renewal.
Attorneys are being sent email reminders regarding their license renewal. Rule 2 of the Rules Concerning the State Bar of Michigan requires all attorneys to keep a valid email address on file with the State Bar of Michigan.
Attorneys can update their contact information, including their email address, at any time by logging in at michbar.org/MemberArea. Under the Profile heading, click “Manage” to check and/or edit contact information.
The State Bar of Michigan administers the annual license renewal process for Michigan attorneys and distributes the funds as directed by the Michigan Supreme Court.
