State Bar webinar looks at improving business practices
A State Bar of Michigan virtual webinar offer attorneys an opportunity to learn more about how to improve business practices and ensure proper record keeping in their lawyer trust accounts.
“Lawyer Trust Accounts Seminar: Management Principles and Recordkeeping Resources” will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event will feature information on the ethical management of lawyer trust accounts, including the analysis used in processing client or third-party funds and an in-depth focus on recordkeeping
requirements.
Open to lawyers and their staff, the seminar provides an opportunity for participants to receive practical information regarding MRPC 1.15 and 1.15A.

ADTC speakers lead discussion on ‘Premises Liability’
The Association of Defense Trial Counsel will feature guest speakers Todd Stearn and Rick Szymczak at its membership meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Maggiano’s, 2089 W. Big Beaver Rd. in Troy. Stearn and Szymczak will speak on “Premises Liability.”
The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and light appetizers followed by the program at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m.
Dinner consists of a three course Italian meal served family style including freshly baked bread, coffee, hot tea, iced tea, soda, and dessert. Cost, which includes two drink tickets, is $75 for ADTC members and $85 for non-members.

Federal Bar conducts Rakow/Rom lunch
The Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, will host the Edward H. Rakow Luncheon with the Barbara J. Rom Award and Historical Society Presentation beginning at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Atheneum Hotel in Detroit.
In addition to the Court Historical Society speaker, the program will also feature the presentation of the Barbara J. Rom Award for Bankruptcy Excellence. The chapter established this award in 2012 to honor individuals who, like Rom, have exhibited the highest level of overall excellence in the practice of bankruptcy law.
Cost for the luncheon is $45 for FBA members and $65 for non-members/guests.
