Muskegon attorney named a 'Leader in the Law'


Warner Norcross + Judd LLP Executive Partner Robert A. Dubault has been named among Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s “Leaders in the Law” for 2023.

Leaders in the Law are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the practice of law in Michigan and for setting an example for other lawyers. They have shown tremendous leadership and offer a wealth of expertise in diverse areas of the law. Dubault and his fellow honorees will be recognized during an awards luncheon Tuesday, Dec. 5 at Petruzzello’s Banquet and Conference Center in Troy.

Dubault’s nomination letter read in part: “With nearly 30 years of experience, Rob counsels and represents public and private sector employers through a myriad of complex labor and employment matters. He is known as a trusted advisor for his clients and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. His responsiveness, practical approach and attention to detail and problem-solving abilities have consistently delivered positive outcomes for his clients.”

As executive partner, Dubault leads the operations for Warner’s Muskegon office, which serves clients in business law, labor and employment law, tax law, employee benefits, environmental law, intellectual property, estate and trust planning, international law, real estate and related litigation. Muskegon is one of nine Warner offices across Michigan.

Dubault is a labor and employment attorney whose clients include those in the automotive, food processing, health care, financial services, higher education, aerospace, defense and manufacturing industries as well as community mental health organizations and municipalities. He counsels and represents clients on a wide variety of matters, including hiring, discipline, termination, leaves of absence, employment discrimination, workplace harassment, American Disabilities Act and Family Medical Leave Act, wage and hour compliance, collective bargaining, labor arbitration and National Labor Relations Board and Michigan Employment Relations Commission proceedings, among others.

Committed to educating employers and employees and promoting positive work environments, Dubault regularly speaks at seminars on topics including workplace harassment, compliance with disability and other antidiscrimination laws, FMLA and employment law issues. He also leads sessions in Warner’s annual HR seminar and presents on HR topics in partnership with the Employers Association of West Michigan and Grand Haven, Spring Lake and Ferrysburg Chamber of Commerce.

Dubault serves on the Employers Association of West Michigan board and Michigan Bankers Association Human Resources Committee. He also is a member of the Muskegon Museum of Art board and serves as chair of its Collections and Personnel committees.

He has been named Lawyer of the Year in labor law by Best Lawyers in America®, which has recognized him since 2010. He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan and Muskegon County Bar Association.
