Warren man bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court for allegedly killing autistic teen in hit-and-run

A 43-year-old man has been bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court for allegedly hitting an autistic teen with his vehicle and driving away.

It is alleged that on August 18, 2023, Justin Spangle was driving his car in Roseville where he struck the victim and fled the scene. The victim died from his injuries.

The prosecutor’s office said Spangle is charged with driving while license suspended causing death, tampering with evidence and failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Roseville District Court Judge Alyia Hakim bound Spangle over to circuit court on Wednesday.

Hakim also granted the defendant’s request to remove his GPS tether.

Spangle is scheduled to be arraigned in Macomb County Circuit Court on February 26 by Judge Jennifer Faunce.

“These alleged actions demand accountability. Our commitment is to pursue justice for the victim’s family. We will diligently present our case in Macomb County Circuit Court, seeking a fair and just resolution that upholds the principles of justice," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido.
