Juvenile Lifer Unit seeks legal and mitigation interns


The State Appellate Defender Office’s Juvenile Lifter Unit (JLU) is seeking legal and mitigation interns to help with client intake, record collection, record review and analysis, and initial legal advocacy for individuals who are newly eligible for resentencing hearings.

This internship is open to undergraduate and graduate-level interns from a range of disciplines such as social work, anthropology, psychology, creative writing, criminal justice, and sociology.

The Criminal Defense Association of Michigan will present the webinar “Defending Health Professional Licensees:?Consequences of a Criminal Conviction” Friday, Feb. 16, from 10 to 11 a.m. via Zoom.  
The focus of the webinar is to help educate criminal defense lawyers who represent a licensed health professional in an attendant licensing disciplinary action, particularly as to the potential consequences of a criminal conviction on the licensee’s license.

Through this webinar, attendees will:

• Learn awareness of the consequences that a criminal conviction can have on the licensee’s license.

• Learn about the investigative and disciplinary authority of the State of Michigan under the Public Health Code.

• Learn about the overall operation of the health professional licensing system.

• Learn about sanctions on the license itself as well as other attendant consequences.

• Learn some practical approaches.

Cost for the webinar is $40 for CDAM members and $50 for non-members.
