Phishing scam pretending to be State Bar is targeting Michigan attorneys

An apparent phishing scam was sent to some members of the State Bar of Michigan recently, claiming to be from a Board commissioner. All Michigan attorneys are advised to be on high alert and not to respond to the email.

The subject line of the fraudulent email is "State Bar of Michigan" and sent from the email address Lisa.hamameh@members-sbm.org. This is not a legitimate State Bar email format. Do not respond.

Members who did respond reported that they were asked for their Microsoft logins. The Federal Trade Commission offers tips for recognizing scam emails at https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/how-recognize-and-avoid-phishing-scams.
