Roseville man arraigned in alleged domestic violence assault and fleeing police

A Roseville man has been arraigned on eight counts in connection with an alleged domestic violence assault and fleeing police.

It is alleged that on Sunday, February 25, Gary Young was at his girlfriend’s residence in Sterling Heights where he assaulted his girlfriend and her teenage daughter.

Sterling Heights Police arrived at the residence and Young fled.  Police attempted a traffic stop where Young fled at a high rate of speed.  The defendant crashed his vehicle near Gratiot and I-94 and fled on foot against police commands.

Young allegedly continued to resist officers until he was arrested.

Young is charged with fleeing a police officer, assault with a dangerous weapon, assaulting a police officer, domestic violence and operating a vehicle on a suspended license.

Young was arraigned in Sterling Heights District Court by Magistrate Michael Piatek where bond was set at $15,000 cash/surety, 10%.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Thursday, March 7.

“The actions of the defendant, who allegedly assaulted two women and endangered public safety by fleeing from law enforcement and assaulting officers in the process, will not go unpunished,” said Prosecutor Peter Lucido. “We will vigorously pursue the full extent of the law to hold accountable those who show such blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of others.”
