Mount Clemens man arraigned in connection with armed robbery and assault

A 37-year-old Mount Clemens man was arraigned today in connection with an armed robbery and assault.

The Macomb County Prosecutor says Jovaughn Harrington ran into an acquaintance at a gas station last Tuesday. Harrington suggested the two meet later that day and, when they met, it is alleged that Harrington tried to rob the woman and when she resisted.

Harrington stabbed her multiple times,  according to Prosecutor Peter Lucido. The victim is in stable condition.

Harrington is charged with assault with intent to murder and armed robbery.  He is also being charged as a habitual fourth offender.

Harrington was arraigned in Clinton Twp. District Court where Magistrate Ryan Zemke set bond at $150,000 cash/surety, no 10%.

If released, the defendant must wear a steel cuff tether, have no contact with the victim, no possession of weapons or ammunition and must have alcohol and drug testing.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Monday, March 11 via Zoom by District Court Judge Sebastian Lucido.
