Florida resident Xavier Gardner, 29, was extradited to Michigan last week in connection with a carjacking outside of Lifetime Fitness in Shelby Twp.
He was arraigned on 12 counts for his alleged participation in the incident.
It is alleged that on Monday, October 23, 2023, Xavier Gardner and five other suspects carjacked the victim at gunpoint, restrained him in his own vehicle and drove away.
The suspects allegedly tortured the victim, drove the victim to his house, and entered the residence.
Sterling Heights Police Department arrived at the victim’s residence and Gardner fled.
Xavier Gardner was arraigned on numerous charges including carjacking felony firearms, armed robbery, torture and home invasion.
Gardner is the fifth defendant to be charged and arraigned in this incident. Angel Andujar-Ruiz, Angel Pantoja, Renado Coleman, and Romeo Osorio have already been arraigned. One individual is still at large.
