City of Jackson launches redesigned website

A new design for the City of Jackson’s website is bringing a fresh look and faster access to City services. The City of Jackson redesigned its website, cityofjackson.org, with the help of website vendor, CivicPlus. The rejuvenated site launched Feb. 27 after five months of planning from City staff.

The changes bring a fresh and modern look to the City’s website. The homepage has been completely redesigned so residents can easily find information. City staff researched website data to determine the pages with the most views and plugged those pages directly into the homepage.

The updated site also features an expanded community news section, language translation capabilities, photo slideshow, improved meeting and event calendar, and connections to elected officials. Website improvements also make it appear more consistently on mobile devices.

Public Information Officer Aaron Dimick oversaw the redesign process. “This new website has more flexibility so we can easily update it to get residents the latest information about City services, news and emergencies,” Dimick said. “This improved City service also came at no cost to taxpayers.”

A video on the City’s YouTube page shows the website’s new features. The City, which hasn’t undergone a website redesign in five years, benefited from a free redesign. Under a contract with CivicPlus, the City is entitled to a free update every four years.
