Michigan State University student Ryan McCormick, a recovering poly-substance addict who is a senior studying physics with a minor in mathematics, has been honored with the $500 Lost Dreams Awaken Scholarship.
Bestowed by Benjamin Bozworth, the $3000 award, shared among three students, champions triumph over substance abuse. This scholarship not only recognizes academic dedication but also the courageous journey of recovery, inspiring a future where past hardships fuel transformative achievements.
McCormick, who attended Drug Court at 54B Court in East Lansing and has been in recovery since February 2019, earned an associate’s degree with a 4.0 GPA from Jackson College in 2023.
He works at Mid-Michigan Recovery Services as a program coordinator for recovery housing; and his goal is to teach math or physics at the high school or college level.
