Prisoner bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court for alleged murder of cellmate

Michael Ketchum was bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court on murder charges Friday by New Baltimore District Court Judge William Hackel III.

It is alleged that on October 18, 2022, Ketchum went to breakfast and stabbed another inmate multiple times in the head, neck and arm.

Officers then went to his cell where they discovered Ketchum’s cellmate hogtied, strangled, and stabbed to death underneath his bed.

The defendant has been moved to another facility where he remains behind bars.

Ketchum has been charged with first-degree murder, assault with intent to murder and prisoner in possession of a weapon.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in circuit court on April 1.
