Man arraigned for allegedly resisting and fleeing police after a traffic stop in Macomb County

A 27-year-old Detroit man was arraigned Monday in connection with fleeing and resisting police following a traffic stop by Warren officers.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said 27-year-old Romero Austin-Folson was driving without a license plate when Warren police officers pulled him over.

Authorities say Austin-Folson soon refused police commands and drove away, striking the foot of an officer.

The defendant eventually stopped and officers arrested him.

 A separate officer responding to the scene was struck by another vehicle in route.  The responding officer was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Austin-Folson was charged with fleeing police and two counts of assaulting, resisting and obstructing a police officer;

Austin-Folson was arraigned in 37th Warren District Court where District Court Judge Steve Bieda set bond at $100,000 cash/surety.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for March 26 before District Court Judge Michael Chupa.
