The
Macomb County Bar Foundation hosted the Michigan Center for Civic
Education’s Regional Mock Trial competition earlier this month at Macomb
County Circuit Court. Students from high schools across the county
participated in the daylong event with both teams from the International
Academy along with Romeo High School winning the right to advance to
the State Competition March 23 in Lansing.
The
mock trial competition is designed to reenact much of what might take
place in trial courts with student teams taking on the roles of
attorneys and witnesses and competing against other schools. Along with
area judges, dozens of attorneys and other members of the legal
community volunteered for the event in various capacities.
