CDAM schedules Evidence Book Camp


The Criminal Defense Association of Michigan will present “Evidence Boot Camp D” on Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in person at the Macomb County Public Defender Office, 22 Market St., in Mt. Clemens.

Attendees do not have to take prior Boot Camps to attend this Boot Camp.

Speaking at the hands-on small group training will be Joan Morgan of the Macomb County Public Defender Office and Mitchell Foster of Mitch Foster Law.

Cost for the online training is $320 for CDAM members and $400 non-members.  Continental breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack will be provided.  Participants will earn 8 skill training hours.

Attorney-client privilege discussed
on ALI webcast


American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education will present the webcast “Attorney-Client Privilege: Express, Implied, and Subject Matter Waivers” on Thursday, April 11, from noon to 1:30 p.m.

This program will help attorneys to better understand the various kinds of privilege waivers, including express, implied, and subject-matter waivers; the circumstances that trigger them; and your disclosure obligations post-waiver.

The webcast will be taught by a lawyer well-versed in the attorney-client privilege, confidentiality and other ethics issues.

Questions will be submitted live to the faculty and all registrants will receive downloadable course materials to accompany the program.

Cost for the webcast is $249.

FBA plans Gilman Award luncheon


The Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, will host the 2024 Leonard R. Gilman Award Luncheon on Wednesday, April 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Atheneum Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Detroit.

The event celebrates the ideals of excellence, professionalism, and commitment to public service embodied by Len Gilman and this year’s award recipient.  
Kkeynote speaker will be U.S. Court of Appeals Chief Judge Jeffrey S. Sutton, Sixth Circuit.

The Gilman Award is given annually to an outstanding practitioner of criminal law who exemplifies the excellence, professionalism, and commitment to public service of U.S. Attorney Len Gilman.

Cost for the luncheon” is $55 for FBA members and $75 for non-members/guests.
