White was nominated by President Biden on January 10. On February 8, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing considering his nomination.
“Robert White has spent his career upholding the rule of law and keeping our communities safe. His will be an excellent judge and his confirmation is great news for Michigan,” said Stabenow.
“After years as both a federal prosecutor and a defense attorney, Robert White has the experience and temperament necessary to serve on the federal bench,” said Peters. “He is an exceptional legal mind with outstanding qualifications, and I was honored to help confirm him to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.”
White has been an assistant United States attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan since 2018.
Previously, White served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas from 2014 to 2018. Before that, he worked as an associate attorney at Ralph E. Meczyk and Associates from 2010 to 2014.
He received his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2010 and his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 2007.
