Strong pitching leads Rams to
10-0 win over bearcats

Alex Krugh tossed a two-hitter and Ethan Gibson banged out three hits and drove in two runs to lead the Galesburg-Augusta varsity baseball team to a 10-0, five inning win over Battle Creek Central April 13 on the road.
Krugh, who threw 38 of his 52 pitches for strikes, allowed just three base runners. He walked one batter and struck out nine Bearcats.

Four Bearcat errors led to six unearned runs for G-A, now 4-0.

Fawcett throws no-hitter

Jaden Fawcett three a five-inning no hitter, helping the Rams to a 16-0 win over Bloomingdale on the road April 9.

Fawcett, who threw 47 of his 72 pitches for strikes, allowed two walks and struck out 11 batters.

Justin Martin, with a double, two singles and one RBI, led G-A’s eight-hit attack.

G-A JV baseball team remains undefeated
with 2 wins over C-S

The Galesburg-Augusta JV baseball team remained undefeated to start the season after the team registered two wins over Climax-Scotts April 15 at C-S.

G-A battled back from an early 3-1 deficit in the first game with a six-run fifth inning to post an 8-6 win and then the Rams used a six-run third inning to roll past the Panthers 11-4 in the second game.

G-A managed just four hits in the first game, but took advantage of nine walks and seven C-S errors that led to six unearned runs.

Alex Krugh and Kameron Prince, who had a double and two RBI, each had two hits for G-A.

Nate Ewert earned the win in relieve, tossing a hitless fourth inning. He issued two walks and struck out two. Nolan Brewer earned the save.

Kameron Prince allowed just one hit and Alex Krugh drove in three runs to lead the Rams to the win in the second game.

Prince walked two and struck out five.

The Rams took advantage of 17 walks issued by Saugatuck pitchers and four errors on the way to a 13-1 win over the Trailblazers.

Nate Ewert, who pitched three innings and allowed one hit with four strikeouts, earned the win for G-A.

13-hit attack leads Rams to win over Battle Creek Central

The Rams produced 13 hits in a 19-5 win over Battle Creek Central April 13.

Jonah Ranes, who earned the win and struck out nine Battle Creek Bearcats over three innings of one-hit ball, teamed up with Mike Groat (one strikeout), and Jaden Fawcett (six strikeouts) for 16 strikeouts.

Wes Hoffman, who had one RBI, Alex Krugh, who had a double and two RBI, Kameron Prince, who drove in two runs and Ranes, who had four RBI, each had two hits to pace a 13-hit G-A attack.

Four setbacks leaves G-A softball team
with 2-4 record

A pair of setbacks at Plainwell April 9 and two more losses to Mendon April 15 left the Galesburg-Augusta girls varsity softball teams’ record at 2-4.

A 23-run first inning by Mendon led to a 26-0, three-inning loss in the first game and then the Hornets struck for 21 runs in the second inning of the nightcap on the way to a 22-1 win. Both games lasted three innings.

Rhyann Wilson’s two hits led G-A at the plate in the first game.

Mendon benefitted from 15 walks and 17 stolen bases in the first game.

G-A managed just two hits in the second game, a double by Caitlin  both games against Mendon led to a 26-0 loss in the first game.

Mendon capitalized on 14 walks and 43 stolen bases in the nightcap.

Plainwell, behind a 16-hit attack, won the first game 21-5 and then blanked the Lady Rams 9-0 in a four-inning second game.

Maureen McBride, who had a double, Caitlen Valadez, Liliana Thompson and Runa Seidl, who had a double, collected G-A’s hits in the first game.

A seven-run second inning separated Plainwell from the Rams in the second game.

G-A had quiet bats in the second game as well, however Liliana Thompson collected two of G-A’s five hits.

G-A’s scheduled doubleheader against Saugatuck April 11 was postponed because of rain and will be made up May 8 at G-A at 4:30 p.m.

The Galesburg-Augusta tennis team fell to 0-3 with an 8-0 loss to Berrien Springs April 12 and a 7-1 loss to Plainwell April 9.

A smaller roster forced G-A to forfeit three doubles matches.

G-A, which had a match April 11 against Kalamazoo Christian postponed because of rain, is scheduled to return action April 19 at home against Battle Creek Central at 4 p.m.
