Foley, Baron, Metzger, & Juip PLLC is pleased to announce the hiring of attorney Sarah H. Luchsinger as a senior associate with the firm.

Luchsinger’s practice primarily involves medical malpractice defense, but also includes nursing home negligence, general negligence, premises negligence, and trucking and auto negligence. In addition, she has experience with insurance defense, and family law, including pre-nuptial agreements, divorce, child custody disputes, and guardianship issues.

Previously, Luchsinger spent time working as an internal consultant for a large national healthcare corporation and was one of the lead project managers over the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Electronic Health Record Incentive Program, “Meaningful Use.” She oversaw the compliance of more than 80 hospitals, all of which successfully met the requirements for the program both at the federal and state levels.

Luchsinger earned her law degree from Michigan State College of Law, and her undergraduate degree in political science, pre-law from Michigan State University.

Butzel Long


Butzel attorneys will provide insight into legal trends and topics accompanying mobility advancement during the MEMA OE / South Carolina Automotive Council (SCAC) 2024 Regional Meeting on Thursday, May 16. Plunkett Cooney


Plunkett Cooney attorney Michael D. Hanchett was recently selected by the Lawyers for Civil Justice (LCJ) as a member of the organization’s Fellows Class of 2024.

The LCJ executive committee unanimously voted to include Hanchett in the three-year program based on his experience and expertise in governmental law and employment liability.

Since 1987, LCJ has promoted excellence and fairness in the civil justice system by working to meet the needs of its corporate and defense counsel members and confronting the challenges of business litigation. The LCJ Fellows program works to identify potential future leaders and rising defense bar talent with emphasis on those who offer a unique and fresh perspective to civil justice and civil litigation rules advocacy. During the Fellowship, Hanchett will engage in policy and rule reform alongside some of the leading defense and corporate counsel in the country.  

Hanchett, who works in Plunkett Cooney’s Bloomfield Hills office, is a member of the firm’s Governmental Law and Labor & Employment Law practice groups. He defends public-sector clients in a variety of litigation with particular expertise in police liability, including searches and seizures, use of force and corrections law. His practice also includes the defense of employment law disputes involving such issues as alleged discrimination, retaliation and civil rights claims brought under state and federal statutes. Hanchett also serves as a special assistant attorney general for the state of Michigan.   

Hanchett is a member of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, where he co-chairs the civil rights section and serves on the newsletter committee. He is also a member of the DRI’s Construction Law, Insurance Law and Young Lawyers committees. Hanchett is also active in the Oakland County and American bar associations, as well as the State Bar of Michigan’s Government Law and Labor and Employment sections.

Designated by Best Lawyers as one of their Ones to Watch in municipal law since 2021, Hanchett routinely speaks to various police and municipal organizations. Admitted to practice law in state and federal courts in Michigan, he received his law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in 2016 and his undergraduate degree from Ferris State University in 2013.

Taft Detroit announces the addition of Greg Moore and Chris Ryan, both from Dickinson Wright, as partners in the firm’s Healthcare practice group and Jacob Simon, from Bodman, as a Business associate to the firm.

With more than 25 years of expertise in healthcare, Moore specializes in regulatory, transactional, and litigation services. He earned a bachelor of arts from Indiana University and a law degree from the Indiana University, Robert H. McKinney School of Law. Beyond his professional pursuits, Moore actively contributes to the community, serving on the Common Ground Board of Trustees and volunteering for the Crisis Text Line.

Ryan’s career has focused on representing businesses, physicians, mid-level providers, hospitals, and insurance companies in a range of litigation and administrative matters throughout the healthcare industry. Additionally, he possesses experience with intellectual property cases involving patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Ryan earned his bachelor of business administration at the Western Michigan University Haworth College of Business and his law degree at the Michigan State University College of Law.

Simon’s work focuses on the structuring and negotiation of complex transactions and on general organizational and business matters. He has professional work experience in the legal and financial industries. Simon received his law degree from Wayne State University Law School, an M.B.A. from the Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business, and a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.

Office of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer


Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the appointment of Fadwa Hammoud  to the MEDC Executive Committee.  

Hammoud is an attorney and the Detroit managing member of the Miller Johnson law firm. Prior to private practice, Hammoud served as chief deputy attorney general and, from 2019 to 2022, as Michigan’s solicitor general. She is a past member of the Dearborn Board of Education, Henry Ford Community College Board of Trustees, and the Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs.  Hammoud earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and communications from the University of Michigan Dearborn and a law degree from Wayne State University.

Hammoud is appointed to represent business for a term commencing April 25, 2024, and expiring April 5, 2028. She succeeds Phillip Shaltz, whose term is expired.

The MEDC Executive Committee provides policy direction and guidance to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation regarding economic development program and initiatives, approves the MEDC corporate budget, and appoints the chief executive officer who administers all programs, funds, personnel, and all other administrative transactions of the MEDC. The MEDC Executive Committee supports the MEDC through governance, support to enable results-based action, and advocacy for the organization and economic development in Michigan.
