‘The Changing Landscape of Youth Defense’ explored

The Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan (CDAM) will conduct a webinar on “The Changing Landscape of Youth Defense” Friday, June 14, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

With the passage of the juvenile justice reform bills last year and some recent case law, many changes are coming to juvenile delinquencies that will impact how to represent young clients.

The webinar will take a look at:

• Upcoming statutory and court rule changes to delinquencies

• New strategies for representing youth

• How recent case law impacts youth defense

Speaking at the webinar will be Joshua Pease, the Youth Defense Project director at the State Appellate Defender Office. He leads efforts to reform representation of youth in delinquency cases across the state at all levels by spearheading reforms impacting youth in the justice system and facilitating trainings to improve the quality of representation those youth receive. Prior to joining SADO, Pease worked in private practice with a focus on representing children.

Cost for the webinar is $60 for CDAM members and $75 for non-members.  To register, visit https://cdam.wildapricot.org.
