Man arraigned in traffic accident that killed two in Shelby Township

Westland resident Jose Eugeno Medina-Hernandez was arraigned last Friday in connection with a traffic incident that killed two women.

Jose Medina-Hernandez, age 33, was driving a box truck southbound on M-53 in Shelby Township last Thursday when he allegedly rear-ended a car that triggered a chain reaction involving two other vehicles.

The occupants of that car,  88-year-old Nancy Richmond and 63-year-old Crystal Brunn, were killed in the crash.

Medina-Hernandez was charged with two counts of Moving Violation Causing Death.

He was arraigned in 41A-1 Shelby Township District Court where Magistrate James Verploeg set bond at $250,000 cash/surety.  No further court date has been scheduled at this time.

“Our office is committed to ensuring that justice is served and that the responsible party is held accountable for their actions in this incident. We extend our deepest condolences to the families affected by this senseless loss," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido.
