Benjamin Zainea is named as a ‘Michigan Go To Lawyer’


Attorney Benjamin A. Zainea, a member of the law firm of Grand Rapids-based Mika Meyers PLC, was selected as a Michigan LawyersWeekly 2024 “Go to Lawyer” in Business Transactions.

A “Go to Lawyer” is an expert in their field; who is experienced and has a record of success, with many cases and/or transactions that give testimony to the quality advice they provide; a lawyer to whom other lawyers make referrals because of their expertise; and a lawyer who can think creatively and identify all options for a client. Many lawyers are nominated, but only 22 were selected for this award statewide.

Zainea specializes in business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, business formation and succession planning, general business and real estate law, estate planning, commercial lending, and manufacturing.

Cooley Law School student receives  ACC?scholarship


Cooley Law School student Catherine Gagnon was selected as the 2024 winner of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Michigan Chapter Scholarship for Academic Excellence in Corporate and Business Classes. She will be honored as the $3,000 scholarship recipient during the ACC award ceremony this year.

Since its inception in 1983, the Michigan Chapter of ACC has grown from an initial group of about 35 to more than 600 attorneys serving as general counsel, assistant general counsel and corporate counsel to automotive companies, financial institutions, health care providers, utilities, retailers, science and technology companies, and educational institutions throughout Michigan. The chapter’s offerings include: continuing legal education, opportunities to network with other in-house attorneys, and advocacy on behalf of the profession.
