AFJ Law Group founder elected to DBA board

Alexis F. Johnson, founder of AFJ Law Group PLLC, was recently elected to the board of directors of the Detroit Bar Association. Known for her dedicated representation of small to medium-sized businesses, Johnson aims to use this new platform to advocate for entrepreneurs and further the evolution of the legal profession.

Established in 1836, the Detroit Bar Association stands as Michigan's oldest and one of the three oldest bar associations in the nation. The DBA actively supports Detroit’s legal community through networking, practice development, and community service, fostering a legacy of ethical and successful legal practice.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues on the board to create an environment where both the legal profession and the business community can flourish,” said Johnson.

In the role, Johnson plans to implement the core values of the DBA, which are stewardship, service, integrity, honor, and inclusive community, by enhancing access to legal resources, promoting ethical conduct, and supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Johnson’s election comes at a time when the business landscape is rapidly changing, and legal needs are becoming increasingly complex. Her vision for a more accessible and supportive legal framework for entrepreneurs aligns with the evolving demands of the modern economy.

Prior to graduating from Wayne State University Law School, Johnson launched multiple small businesses, gaining firsthand experience in both the public and private sectors. As an entrepreneur she learned how one’s legal knowledge can make the difference between success and failure, avoiding the major pitfalls of small business, a lesson that was brought home when working at large law firms representing commercial clients after passing the bar. Her legal expertise coupled with her desire to promote entrepreneurial success naturally led her to develop AFJ Law Group, specializing in in all facets of business and real estate litigation, offering comprehensive legal solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of its clients.
