The Detroit Bar Association celebrated its Annual Dinner and Awards Night event June 13 at the Detroit Golf Club, recognizing exceptional contributions within the legal community. A number of distinguished legal luminaries and judges attended the event.

Among the highlights of the evening was the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Section being honored with the Outstanding Section of the Year Award. The prestigious honor was accepted by Harshitha Ram, who was commended for her exemplary leadership while serving as the chair of the ADR Section.

Ram is an arbitrator and mediator specializing in both domestic and international matters who has significantly enhanced the opportunities and reputation of the ADR Section of the Detroit Bar Association through her leadership. She has a successful global practice in commercial, consumer, information technology, construction, labor, and employment matters. Ram holds an LL.M in Dispute Resolution from the University of South Wales in the United Kingdom where she was the first recipient of the Corbett Spurin Memorial Prize for outstanding achievement in Dispute Resolution Laws.

In her acceptance speech at the Detroit Bar Association event, Ram emphasized the collective efforts of the ADR Section and its commitment to enhancing the dispute resolution process.

“I received extraordinary support from the entire DBA and am deeply grateful to work with such an enthusiastic team,” said Ram, adding that “this award is particularly special as it comes at a time when we are expecting a new addition to our family.”
