Macomb County Commissioner Michelle Nard elected SEMCOG vice-chairperson

The 2024-2025 officers and committee assignments for the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) were elected at its Annual Meeting on June 27.  

The Macomb County Board of Commissioners has announced that Commissioner Michelle Nard was re-elected SEMCOG Vice-Chairperson and Transportation Coordinating Council member and Commissioner Don VanSyckel was re-elected to the SEMCOG Regional Review Committee. 

“This honor is a testament to the trust and confidence placed in my leadership,” she said. “I am unwavering in my resolve to uphold the principles of collaboration, innovation and progress that define these esteemed organizations.

Nard was also re-elected to the Transportation Coordinating Council. 

As a SEMCOG Officer she serves on the Regional Review Committee and the Finance and Budget Committee. In 2022-2023 she served as Vice Chair of the Traffic Safety Task Force.

“The SEMCOG Regional Review Committee is responsible for allocating millions of dollars of Federal monies in Macomb County and six other counties in Southeast Michigan. I am honored to serve on this committee,” said VanSyckel.  

He joined the General Assembly and the Executive Committee in 2021 and previously served on the Transportation Coordinating Council.
