Obituary

George Kenneth Truchan, 68, died June 27; a Celebration of Life was held July 15 at Eagles Nest Restaurant in Clarklake.

Truchan was born December 27, 1955, in Detroit. He was raised in Detroit and subsequently became a police officer after graduating high school n 1974.

He obtained his Juris Doctor from Cooley Law School in 1983 and continued both law enforcement and attorney careers his entire life, as he was a working certified police officer with the Napoleon Township Police Department until his death.

Truchan moved his family to the Jackson County area in the late 1980s, where he opened a law office. Over the years he obtained professional and honorable titles of Police Chief, Public Safety Director, Sheriff Captain, Police Lieutenant, Police Sergeant, Patrol Officer, Court Magistrate, Court Director, and Attorney at law.

He was a member of the sons of the American Legion, State Bar Association of Michigan, several law enforcement organizations, and was appointed legal practice to the United States Supreme Court.

Truchan enjoyed boating, golfing, traveling, scuba diving, music, and dancing. He was enthusiastic about his hometown of Detroit and Motown, as he had fond memories growing up there, and enjoyed watching the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, and Detroit Lions, frequenting as many games as time would allow.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda; sons Douglas (Meghan) Truchan and Jay (Kelly) Truchan; stepdaughters, Chelsea (Jeff) Ulfig, Heather (Jared) Grandy and Racquel (Cole) Knaup; Grandchildren, Maximus Truchan, Harper and Casten Knaup, Fitzgerald and Lucy Grandy, Liam and Charlotte Ulfig. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and first wife, Sheila.
