The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said John David Amey, age 49, pled guilty Monday in Macomb County Circuit Court for failing to pay his child support on his three minor children.
In February of 2017, Amey was ordered by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Mark Switalski to pay $1,661.00 a month in child support for his three minor children.
In August 2019 the monthly payment was lowered to $880. His last payment was in August of 2022.
The prosecutor’s office said Amey owes $61,922.03 in child support.
He faces sentencing on Aug. 1 by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Switalski.
“The defendant continually neglected his financial responsibilities, leaving his children without the support they are entitled to,” said Prosecutor Peter Lucido. “We will ensure his obligations to his children are fulfilled.”
