Sterling Heights man guilty of first-degree murder of his girlfriend

Jason Ross was found guilty of killing his girlfriend by a Macomb County jury last week.

In July of 22021, Ross murdered his girlfriend, Kathleen Hales, 47, by stabbing her multiple times and hitting her with a hammer in their home in Sterling Heights. 

Ross hid the body and fled with the victim’s credit cards, prescription drugs, and her car.  He was apprehended in Prescott, MI with one of the murder weapons and the victim’s belongings.

Ross, 50, was found guilty of First Degree Murder, a life without parole felony, Larceny from a Building, a four year felony, Unlawful Driving Away a Motor Vehicle, a five year felony, and Stealing a Financial Transaction Device without Consent, a four year felony.  

Ross is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
