Law license renewal now open for 2024-2025


Michigan attorneys can now renew their State Bar of Michigan law license for the 2024-2025 bar year.

All attorneys are required to annually renew their license and complete mandatory regulation disclosures.

The State Bar of Michigan uses an online system to make license renewals fast and convenient for Michigan attorneys.

Attorneys can renew their license in the online Member Area at michbar.org/MemberArea.

Ensure contact information is up to date. (In the online Member Area, click "Manage" to check and/or edit contact information.) Rule 2 of the Rules Concerning the State Bar of Michigan requires all attorneys to keep a valid email address on file with the State Bar of Michigan. Reminder emails typically are sent to attorneys in October and November until their license renewal is complete.

The new license year begins on Oct.?1, 2024, and ends on Sept.?30, 2025.

The State Bar of Michigan administers the annual license renewal process for Michigan attorneys and distributes the funds as directed by the Michigan Supreme Court.

New virtual support group  for attorneys to start in October


The State Bar of Michigan’s Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program is offering a free, confidential virtual support group for attorneys to help each other work through stress, improve their overall well-being, and connect with their peers. 

Meetings will begin Oct. 2, 2024 and take place via Zoom on Wednesday evenings, from 6-7 p.m. ending November 20, 2024.

All meetings are facilitated by an LJAP Clinical Case Manager.

The schedule of topics will be:

Week 1: The Power of Gratitude

Week 2: Coping Mechanisms for Stress Management

Week 3: Setting Healthy Boundaries

Week 4: Work - Life Balance

Week 5: Vicarious Trauma

Week 6: Compassion Fatigue

Week 7: Resilience

Week 8: Dealing with Difficult Personalities

Interested participants can attend at any time during the eight weeks, and attendance at all groups is not required for participation.
