Looking at alternatives to incarceration
The
Macomb County Bar Association recently held a seminar that examined
available sentencing options to avoid incarceration. Among the featured
speakers at the event, entitled ‘Treatment Rather Than Incarceration’
Impactful Sentencing, was Macomb County Public Defender Thomas Tomko
(center), who is pictured with (from left): Holly Gruzwalski with Macomb
Community Mental Health; Barbara Caskey with Macomb Community
Corrections; Sue Lind, executive director of the Arc of Macomb County;
and Lisa Lepine, quality director at the Arc of Macomb County who leads
the organization’s SpArc Services program. Presentations focused on
programs for individuals with primary mental health needs, adult
outpatient treatment, residential services along with forensic and jail
diversion programs as well as services for individuals with
developmental disabilities.
