Levin Center to present Award for Excellence winner online, Oct. 22


The Carl Levin Center for Oversight and Democracy granted its 2024 Award for Excellence in Oversight Research to “Common Law Executive Privilege(s),” by Jonathan Shaub, Assistant Professor of Law at University of Kentucky’s Rosenberg College of Law. Chosen by a selection committee composed of law and political science oversight scholars and veteran practitioners, the award-winning paper emerged from a competitive field of excellent candidate papers. The award includes a $2,500 cash prize.

On Tuesday, October 22, Shaub will present his winning paper to the academic community online from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom. To register for the free online presentation, visit https://levin-center.org.

Detroit?Mercy Law to present Constitution Day program, Sept. 30


The University of Detroit Mercy Law School of Law will conduct its 2024 Constitution Day Program on Monday, September 30, from 1 to 3 p.m. in Room 226 on campus, 651 East Jefferson Avenue in Detroit.

In recognition of Constitution Day 2024, three Detroit Mercy Law faculty – each an expert in Constitutional Law – will identify the legal issues they are closely watching as the 2024 elections arrive and the next presidential administration hangs in the balance.

The program will feature Detroit Mercy Law Professors  Cara Cunningham Warren, Aman L. McLeod, Catherine Archi­bald, and Richard J. Broughton.

ADTC?hosts Euchre Event, Sept. 26


The Association of Defense Trial Coun­sel will host a Euchre Event on Thursday, September 26, beginning at 6 p.m. at Total Sports Complex, 40501 Production Drive in Harrison Township.

Family and friends are welcome. Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Food and soda will be provided. A cash bar will be available.
